THe
BSRLA was inaugurated in early 2004 in response to the continued pressures
on the small to medium sized self adhesive label printers that operate
in the highly competive UK market. Whilst the industry is still seeing
some slow growth in volumes, downwards presure on pricing and continually
increasing costs from multinational suppliers has resulted in increasingly
difficult trading conditions. The association exists to promote the
interests of its members, in particular:
• To develop an efficient internet based network to discuss
technical, topical or commercial issues that arise from the members
from time to time;
• To provide a framwork to negotiate preferential deals from
suppliers using joint purchasing arrangements;
• To enable the transfer of "unusual" work between
members as we increasingly specialize our businesses;
• To provide a single voice to promote the interests of the
industry when dealing with the press or other interested groups.
Membership of the organisation is only open to UK (and from 2010 Ireland) companies that provide
a short run labelling service as a major part of their business, with
a philosopy that members turnover should be less than £10M. Other
trade organisations exists for larger label companies such as FINAT
(Europe), LATMA (Australasia), TLMI (USA), and the BPIF Roll Label Association.
Raw material suppliers to the organisation may not become members, as
this could create a conflict of interest when negotiating purchasing
agreements. Members operate a closed and private discussion group to
debate various topical issues.
Dealing with a company who is a member of the BSRLA gives you confidence
that you are trading with an established professional company that is
willing to be judged by its peers as operating to a high standard.
To ensure that members operate to the same high ethical standards in
their business, they are expected to operate to a simple code of conduct.
Companies that fail to meet the standard code of conduct, in the opinion
of the other members may have their membership withdrawn.
CODE OF CONDUCT
• Members should operate in a fair and ethical manner in trading
between each other and at all times strive to acheive complete customer
satisfaction.
• Members should offer pricing that is fair, competitive and
can sustain long term business.
• Members should not be party to conduct that could bring the
Association into disrepute.
